Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter
The Xbox One did away with the 2.5mm audio jack that was used in the 360, rendering old headsets useless, that is until recently with the release of the official Xbox One stereo headset adapter.
The adapter connects to the underside of the controller and provides, in addition to a 2.5mm to 3.5mm audio jack adapter, a number of easy to use buttons, allowing you to control volume and to mute your microphone as and when you need.
As well as allowing you to connect your old Xbox headsets, the stereo adapter also makes it possible to connect wired PC, PS4 and PS4 headsets, giving you a wider range of headsets to choice from and use with your Xbox One than was possible with the last generation.
The adapter is also designed to keep out of the way, meaning that you can leave it attached to your controller without it effecting your ability to game. Leaving the adapter connecting to your controller makes things easier, allow you to change from your headset to speakers with ease. It’s also better to leave it attached as once it’s connected it can become a little difficult to remove due to how snuggly it fits the controller.
It’s built reasonably well and the buttons feel nice to use. The one drawback is that it adds a little more weight to the control, but it’s not very much, and you’ll soon get used to it.
You can buy the Xbox One stereo adapter on it’s own, for £25, or with the official Xbox One stereo headset for around £40, making it one of the best Xbox headset options for the console if you’re on a budget , however although the quality isn’t all that bad we’d recommend you invest a little extra for a higher quality third party Xbox headset.
